The Foundation to Horizontal BIM

Learning Objectives

By learning to use Autodesk Civil 3D, you can improve project performance, maintain consistent data, follow design standard processes, fast-track detailing setup procedures, quickly respond to review work & update changes on an infrastructure project.

  • You will learn how to create points & analyze surfaces, model a surface, design geometry, including the making of horizontal alignments and vertical profiles. You will learn how to create assemblies, corridors, corridor surface, cut & fill volume, cross-sections.

  • The process of using dynamo for scripting, using drone capture to process map & introduction to BIM for infrastructure was explained in later part of the module coursework.

  • The last section provides an overview of plan production tools, setting up title blocks & creating sheets. An overview of the next coursework is a showcase for Infraworks, which is used for the creation of as-built models with a photorealistic visualization of existing topography conditions.
